At last the La Paz Hospital in Bata can work safely. The installation of the emergency power supply has been successfully completed. A set of 3 generators with a total power of 3,600 kva is now up and running and ready for the successive grid failures that occur in the area.
It has been an extremely complex project. The center is fed by three different external grids. It was necessary to select the start-up of one or several groups depending on the network where the failure occurred, start them up and synchronize them with each other and/or the network in service, distribute the loads between the latter and the selected equipment, in order to cover the required demand. All this in a fully automated way.
This work was carried out with the added aggravating factor of working against the clock, with the hospital in operation, so that from the very first moment there could be a group ready to be used in case of an emergency. The hospital, in full operation and full of patients, could not afford a single moment without emergency service. For this reason, the work has been alternating between the different teams to compute them, as well as creating and configuring their control and synchronization that would complete the set as a whole.
